Review of current EP Superb and rock solid return of the new-wave/punk stars of the
infamous ‘Hicks On The Sticks’ compilation. I’m pleased to say they’ve been playing again
for a little while now and the magic is more than still there (along with the message) and
they’re still writing memorable, powerful catchy as hell songs too! This is maximum rock and
roll mania that brings to mind Fear or early Damned too…Recommended! Biography

“Percy deliver a twisted but humorous tale of small town humanity in punky rasping
Yorkshire tones. Discordant nasty and great fun – your can really hear the venom!” VIC
Percy are proving to be tenacious musical survivors – typical Yorkshire Terriers – scruffy
and soft looking from a distance but surprisingly quick with a bite and lots of unexpected
noise close too! ” TOM ROBINSON BBC 6 MUSIC
Founded in York in May 1996. Percy are an evolution of the North of England’s post-punk
indie pioneers. Percy challenge style and are difficult to categorise as musical genres get
used and abused with little mercy. Punk, Reggae, Swing, Glam, Surf, Indie, and even
Country all get a turn and provide a lo-fi underpinning to a collection of wry narratives;
Colin’s lyrical vision of today’s England includes call centre drones, getting old, Doncaster
working mens clubs, Politicians, Payday loans and prescription pills. Often a bleak landscape
but there’s more than enough black humour to raise a smile. The press description of
Percy’s music is as imaginative as the music itself and the band seem to collect ace
straplines such as ‘The Kinks of Punk’, ‘A Yorkshire version of the Sweeney’ and Steve
Lamacq’s own ‘Toe tapping jaw droppers’.
