Melanin Part 2: NikNak & Michelle (NTS) b2b all night
“I celebrate my blackness. I love the artistic vibrancy of the culture I was born to…” – Jesmyn Ward
After a big ol party back in October 2019, Melanin is BACK for a springtime shoobs at Wharf Chambers and this time, it’s a B2B affair!
Melanin will also be raising awareness for Sickle Cell Disorder, a condition that is particularly common in people with an African or Caribbean family background. 1 in 76 babies born in the UK carry sickle cell trait and approximately 15,000 people in the UK have sickle cell disorder. For more information about Sickle Cell Disorder, head to https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/sickle-cell-disease/
We ask that all in attendance wear something RED to show support.
Michelle specialises in underground club music, often experimenting with percussive-based tracks, fast rhythms and hard drums. Previously playing for Don’t Watch That, her sets have been heard in clubs around London, Leeds, Manchester and Paris. A typical set from Michelle features cutting edge sounds, high energy vibes and of course, many bangers.
Her love for club music also extends beyond her DJ sets, regularly presenting itself in her monthly NTS Radio shows and written pieces for online music platforms – Truants, Insert and Beats, Banter & Bob.
